Top Five Fabulous! January 17, 2020 In PE, we have been working on our hockey skills. We are working on controlling the puck (our beanbag) by moving the gym and moving around different targets. We have to keep the blade on the ground so that we don’t get a high stick penalty. It has been super cold this week, so we also had one day of playing different tag games to run around and warm up our bodies. In math, we have been playing different math games to review some of the skills that we have learned this year. We played, “Double the Snowflake”, “Triple X Knockout”, “Place Value Pathway” and “Ten Tens”. It was so much fun! We have also been working on our calendar where we review skills like recording temperature on a thermometer, reading and making graphs, reading a calendar (days of the week and months of the year), making patterns, tally marks, counting by multiples of 5 and 10 both forward and backward, place ...

Top Five Fabulous! January 10, 2020 Welcome back to school! In science, we made a blueprint to build a floating habitat. We watched a video that showed floating habitats and we talked about why people might live on water in the future. We conducted another experiment to figure out how to make a cork stable. The students have conducted many experiments so that they can use the results in their final project. This week we also started to make our floating habitat! We will continue next week and we will test them next week. In PE, we are working on a new skill. We are working on throwing and catching. We have been using bean bags to practice passing (underhanded) with a partner. We also tried some tricks on our own and passing not one, but two bean bags, back and forth with a partner.
