Top Five Fabulous! January 17, 2020
- In PE, we have been working on our hockey skills. We are working on controlling the puck (our beanbag) by moving the gym and moving around different targets. We have to keep the blade on the ground so that we don’t get a high stick penalty. It has been super cold this week, so we also had one day of playing different tag games to run around and warm up our bodies.
- In math, we have been playing different math games to review some of the skills that we have learned this year. We played, “Double the Snowflake”, “Triple X Knockout”, “Place Value Pathway” and “Ten Tens”. It was so much fun! We have also been working on our calendar where we review skills like recording temperature on a thermometer, reading and making graphs, reading a calendar (days of the week and months of the year), making patterns, tally marks, counting by multiples of 5 and 10 both forward and backward, place value using tens rods and ones units, using ten frames, using money to represent numbers, and using a one hundred to make one hundred chart puzzles.
- On one of the really cold days, we challenged the school for a comfy cozy day. With all of the Blue Days this week, we wanted to been cozy. On this day, we got to buddy read with our buddies. We curled up with our blankets and read some amazing books.
- In class we had a “Silly Human Tricks” competition. So many of the kids, and the teachers, have hidden talents that they got to share with all of us! Ask me about some of the talents in our class!
- In writing, we have been working on setting learning goals. We had to think about what we wanted to get even better at something and we had to say why we wanted to get better at that thing. We then had to write about different strategies that we could use to get better! Ask me about what my learning goal was in my writing journal.
We were missing so many kids this week. We hope that everyone is back next week, healthy and ready to learn!
